Connell Contractors helped established the site footprint for New Zealand’s largest solar power plant in Kapuni, Taranaki. With its 2.1 megawatt, 5800 ground-mounted photovoltaic (PV) panels, this project is part of the wider solar farm in the Kapuni Basin Reserve.
While relatively small, this project was of large significance to Connell Contractors, seeking to grow in the renewable energy sector. The Kapuni project joins another substantial ‘green’ hydrogen energy initiative being investigated in the area.
Connell Contractors completed the initial groundwork, constructing the foundations for the solar project and trenching for all associated cables for the grid connection at the farm.
